View Full Version : Warm, not hot, shower

My problem is that when I turn the shower water control to the hot side, the water coming out is warm at best. Sometimes, with no rhyme or reason, the water gets hot. I have to leave the water run to get warm as it comes out cold first. I have a Moen single knob (controls hot and cold) controller in my master shower stall. I have a gas water heater and it is located in my unfinished basement on the other side of a colonial style house. I need some advice to resolve this problem.

Do you have a Posi-Temp or a Skald-Guard model shower valve? Tom

I actually have no idea. The house is new (built 2001) but I am the second owner. I don't know what models they had installed. Is there a way I could find out? Sorry for delay. Was on vacation

Tom, he has a positemp. It turns from right to left. It starts cold then goes to warm as you turn it to the left.

You are correct. As far as the direction the valve turns. Now at least I know what type I have. Thanks. Now to solve the rest of this puzzle.

Take the handle off and adjust the handle limit device under the handle to allow the handle to turn further.
