I am giving my two weeks notice at McDonalds and was wondering what to put in it... Do I just say I am moving on or do I put the actual reasons in. I am wanting to do this as mindfully and non judgmental as possible.

I went back to nights after talking to the restaurant manager and my therapist. My therapist used one of my skills from DBT (DEAR MAN) to help me be mindful and ask for what I needed and wanted. My boss agreed that I would be in the kitchen until after 3am as the drunk rude customers cause me high anxiety and contribute to my depression. I explained over and over I was not to work drive through or out front until after that time and she agreed. Last night I was put in drive through and I did explain to the manager on duty about the deal we had made. It was ignored.

I am realizing that this work place is no longer for me and I need to follow through on my consequences. If I let this pass I can see them putting me out front all the time.

What do I explain in my letter or do I just write a short and sweet this is my two weeks notice my last day will be... thank you and sign it?

Hi morgrann, sorry you are in this situation and unless a purpose can be served by telling them why you are quitting, I would only put something short and to the point 'i am hereby giving my two weeks notice' etc. You still have to be there for two more weeks so don't rock the boat and re-iterate to the manager that you cannot be placed anywhere then what was agreed upon. You may decide to just call it quits after a while if you find that this is not being complied with. I wish you all the best of luck with this, and stay cool.

Mogrann, do you live near any libraries, public or academic? They are usually good places to work, even if you just shelve books and maybe help out behind the scenes. (Libraries do a lot more than check out books to people.)

Even if there are no openings right now, it would be good to submit applications to libraries in your area. Your app will be kept on file for at least six months. Volunteering would help you get your foot in the door for a job.

Normally the less you say the better, you may need or want a reference latter, and you may end up working for, or some of them may work for you in years to come, Life is funny about things like that.

So thank them for the employment, and give them the date you will no longer work there.
