I have a friend that owes $30,000.00 in child support. He is well aware of his plight and makes no excuses for the fact that he's in arearages. He's on disability because he has extensive damage in his back. Also seven operations on that note. He has been getting letters from the DES in our state specifying that he owes and they can put a lien on his material goods. He lives with his folks and doesn't have any material assets to speak of. He only gets $480.00 per month on disability. He is deathly afraid that they will do a sweep and pick him up. I have read the letters. Knowing I don't have any family law experience it looks like to me they turned the child support over to a collection agency. Does this mean that the courts handed it over and that the system or courts have basically handed off to collections?
