Hi everyone,I caught shoplifting in sears, but it is by mistake,I find my husband in the store to show him a t-shirt of$39. But he was not found me on the store, I thought may be he go outside to cheer the baby.so, I went outside to look him,but the security caught me ,they took me to the back, and got my information.they called the cop, they told me to sign in a paper where wrote something, that I did not understand that time(security of store). But I don't sign any paper.then police came, I told him everything that its happened by mistake, the policeman told me not to do it again, now you can go to your home, but he got my full detaillike my name, address,ph no etc.nd I also promise him that it will never happen again.pls. tell me police make criminal record on me for thus or they make police record for this --bcause he got my information,2ndly,the store do any other action on me or its over.or what kind of that paper that they want to be sign by me, if you have the best answer, please. Sears is well known for going after shoplifters (sorry, but you knew you don't take items out the door, and the part about the baby who wasn't with either of you just makes it worse) and they tell you to pay a big fine of hundreds of dollars or go to court. Your choice.

In Canada it is very possible the police will send you a written notice at home, as to when and where to go to get your photo and finger prints done. Then you will be assigned a court date.

If you get notice for photo and prints please get an attorney.

The store may also send you a civil penalty to pay, normally around 500 dollars or so, for their time and trouble.
