My question is how far back can they go to sue for child support. Or can I go back to court to get an increase on the amount owed. I have only been receiving support for 2 1/2 years. She just turned 18 but is still in school for right now so I still receive the little weekly payments that are not even enough to cover school or any of her expenses. He is currently trying to do whatever it takes to get out of paying. They garnishing his wages which is why I am actually getting it every Tuesday. DFS was the ones who initiated the child support for me I didn't have a paid attorney. Does anyone have any advise or similar experiences that they could help me with... I would appreciate it. Thanks

At the hearing how much did they say he owed in back child support (aka-arrears) ?

Support starts normally on the day the case is either filed or the date the judge rules. So there is no "back" support for before there was a court order.

If he owes back support for the time after the child support order, you can take him back to court to try and force him to start making up back payments.

If he is not paying the correct amount according to his income, you can take him to court for that also

When was the original child support Order entered? If it was only recently you cannot go for back child support BUT if the order was entered say 18 years ago, you can be awarded back child support. You need to contact the DFS office and discuss this with them to get this awarded to you in Court.
