I am 13 and 5ft5. I am 73kg and I really want to lose some weight. My goals is 18kg I am quite healthy I usually resist most indulgence food except chocolate. I've always really liked chocolate but I don't really eat it that much anymore. I always feel really uncomfortable when I am walking around especially at school with all of my thin friends. I hate being this big and I am really self conscious. I excersise almost everyday and I play netball. The netball season just finished though and even though I play indoor netball and go to zumba dance fitness classes I don't find this along with my walks sufficient. Everything I have read on the internet and In magazines are suited to adults and not kids/teens. A lot of the websites that I have gone to say that I don't need to lose weight and that I am probably just under the influence of models etc. Can you suggest anything I can do to lose weight? What exercise I should do? What I should eat?

Honey, 18kg is NOT a healthy weight for anyone over the age of 4 years old. At your age, you could even die if you weighed 18kg, which is only 39.6 pounds when not using the metric system.

What kind of foods do you eat? Do you eat a lot of processed foods? Any fruits and/or veggies?

How long have you been doing zumba? Many times you will actually find yourself losing cenitmeters before losing kilograms.

Oh, okay... that sounds much better, lol.

I wish I had some magic words for you, but I need to know the answers to some questions first. Okay?

How long have you been doing Zumba?

What is your diet like? Would you mind giving me some breakfast, lunch and dinner examples?

Are either of your parents overweight?

Do you have any other health issues?

OK I have sultana bran or museli and low-fat yoghurt for breakfast. For lunch on school days it is probably fruit and vegetables. On weekends I have breakfast and lunch at about 1 oclock and I'll eat something small and healthy. For dinner on weekends I eat whatever is in the house and on weekdays for dinner I have something healthy because my mum knows I like to eat healthy stuff and she likes me and my 3 sisters to be healthy too.
I have been doing zumba for 2-3 months now.
Yeah my dad is overweight but being overweight runs in the family on both sides.
I don't have any health issues at all.
