The Officer who conducted the investigation was very aggressive during his month long investigation as he contacted neighbors and family almost every day. The last day of his investigation informed the Officer that I was hiring legal representation and that was last time we heard from him seven weeks ago.
- Is there a way to find out whether he dropped the case or not, other than by contacting the Officer directly?
- If he decides to start a criminal investigation instead, will that "Notice to Appear" be served to me by an Officer, Certified Mail, or regular mail?

Couple things. You should have hired counsel earlier, than you did. And, no. You won't find out if he dropped the case.. Even if you speak to him, he'll LIE.
If it's a criminal case, they don't mail stuff. They ARREST you.

Thank you Mr. excon for your timely and direct response. ;) My wife obtained representation by an Immigration Attorney through her job, and the whole time I thought she would represent both of us. Unfortunately she only told me I needed to hire my own Attorney when everything was all said and done.
Again, thank you for confirming my fear, and that I shouldn't get anxious every time I check my mail, but I do have reason to panic when my doorbell rings unexpectedly.. . and this torturous limbo could go on for months or even years then?
