Please give me your thinking in your own words (a sentence or two) what the story is about.

Do you have to write a paper as to why you think that sentence sums up the story?

Janey is a young deaf girl who lives with her mom. Her mom is cruel and mean and doesn't like her to go anywhere. Mr Clark is a photographer that travels around the world and he comes to her town to take pictures of poor homes and he also tries to help Janey with her problems at home.

Do you just have to find the sentence or do more than that?

What would you say is the theme, in just a few words?

Wondergirl

Do you think Janey's mother loved her?

How about this sentence, or the part in it that I bolded:

She felt her mother shaking and knew her mother loved her, but love was sometimes like silence, beautiful but hard to bear.

Can you make a case for that?

I'm not sure but I think it means that silence can be hard to take or it can be a good thing

Do you know what page that quote was on
It was when Janey goes back in time a bit to explain what it was like when she could hear voices and how things were before her father passed away.

No, I'm sorry -- can't help you with that. Find the part I mentioned about Janey remembering -- it's not that long of a story.

The twist ending is that Mr. Clark kills Janey's mother this is forshadowed in the qoute "My mother tried. She did all she could, for me and for herself. I owe her a debt for that, and have to find someone to pay." this qoute is right after Mr. Clark revealed his problems with his father cruelly neglecting his mother as well as beating her. It shows that Mr. Clark has problems in his life and he owes his mother something. Mr. Clark sees that the relationship that Janey's mother has with her and relates it to the same sort of abuse that his father instilled on his mother. And he kills the *****. THE END so that's the twist ending, its not that his mother was also deaf. You have to read it two or three times to see it, but whatever. Had to explain it because its hard to figure out,its okay though I didn't see it the first time either.
