We have just got a year old chihahua that will not eat. Any suggestions on what to feed her, we have tried to feed her what her former owner suggested and she refuses to eat that also.

Wonderful little dogs, and basically at a year old she is just out of babyhood and heading for teen years, at 2 they are adults. If you have just adopted her, then she has to make adjustments to her new mom and everything is different for you; trying to figure out why she is not with the other people is what I am saying. She will come around to eating as soon as she feels comfortable; she just needs to be petted and held and reassured that you will care for her and love her.
Her previous owners told you what she normally eats, and that is okay, no fault in that but you can try to tempt her with something different to get her comfortable. It may turn in to what she will eat all the time, all you can do is try.
Don't worry, as soon as she is confident she will be eating, drinking, loving you back and playing.
Good luck
