Hello righty's

Unlike your presidential candidate Herman Cain, Governor Chris Christie appointed a Muslim to a judgeship. Some conservatives, naturally, freaked out. Sharia law is encroaching in NJ, they screamed.

Christie called 'em out. (http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0711/60054.html) "It's just crazy, and I'm tired of dealing with the crazies," he said. "It's just unnecessary to be accusing this guy of things just because of his religious background. I'm happy that he's willing to serve after all this baloney."

Any more brave Republicans?? Nahhh.

Christie is right .There is no evidence that this judge would consider sharia in his decisions. Religion is not a litmus test for public office.

Not me . I examined the record of the judge and feel the appointment was justified on the merit. He has been one of the top defense lawyers in NJ for the last 5 years ;being named onto the 'Super Lawyer' list . He has worked to foster trust between the Muslim community and the law enforcement agencies. He organized a job fair encouraging Muslims to apply for law enforcement jobs. The biggest beef against him is that he defended some innocent Muslims that were rounded up immediately after 9-11 .

Hello tom:

You address THIS judge, and leave the bigotry alone.. Why don't you address that?

No need to . I address this judge because he is the topic . Those who oppose him simply because he's Muslim are wrong.

Those who oppose him simply because he's Muslim are wrong.Hello again, tom:

Could I extrapolate then, that those who oppose the community center near ground zero, simply because it's Muslim, are wrong too?

If that's their reason behind it then yes. But of course the issues were and are much more complex than that.

Why should we care that he is Muslim? I have pointed out the diversity among Republicans for years to no avail. Conservative women, blacks, Hispanics, etc. are dismissed as not being 'authentic.' That he appointed a Muslim is great and the crazies are crazy.

That you would wonder if there are any more brave Republicans is telling, you seem to have bought into the myth that we're just a bunch of white, Christian bigots. I haven't noticed even a ripple over him appointing a Muslim.

I am no fan of the NJ GOV. But I give credit where its due.
