I would like some hints or techniques that may help me make an impressive batch. I would also like some tips on some tart filling. Strawberry rhubarb maybe?

Yeah, I have seen those. I was hoping for an "old family" recipe or something you can't just find on Google.

Do you use cream cheese? Here is an excellent recipe I use:
3 ounces cream cheese 1/2 cup butter, softened 1 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 cup any flavor fruit jam 1/3 cup confectioners' sugar

If you like a real tart filling, try using a not quite ripe apricot. Or Raspberries. My fav is strawberry rhubarb
