I posted this in the Women's Forum but wanted to make sure I get as many replies as possible that can help me so I am posting it here too:

I've been bleeding (as if it's a period) on and off for over month now. The first week was my usual (very heavy) period. Then started to spot two weeks later which turned into bright pink (very light) bleeding for 4-5 days. Now, two weeks later again I am bleeding even heavier (not as heavy as my usual period, but enough to need a tampon) and have small clots every once in a while.

I took a pregnancy test yesterday and it came back negative, but it was a cheap dollar store test and don't know if that matters. The box said it tested 25mIU.

I have back pain and minor lower abdominal cramping. I've been trying to get pregnant with my husband for a few months now but usually have very irregular cycles (6-9 weeks long and bleed very heavy at least 8-10 days each cycle). I saw a doctor but have to wait 2 weeks before my next visit to go over results. Does anyone know what this can be? Please help!

*****Please only reply if you are a physician or may have had the same symptoms before. Responses like: "Wait for the results" or "Go see another doctor" defeat the purpose of asking for help. I've already seen the doctor and know I have to wait, but waiting 2 weeks is killing me and I've been stressing out over it (probably making it worse). So, I just want to know what other doctors out there or those that have experienced the same thing can tell me based on their own experience. The better informed I am, the less I tend to stress out (even if it can mean something really bad). But waiting around w/no ideas just makes me think about it all the time. I do a lot of research and have come across some ideas but wanted to put out my exact symptoms to get the best possible feedback. I really appreciate anyone that can provide helpful information. Thank you very much.*****

Okay I read your symptoms, but how can we tell you what is wrong on line. You won't find a physician O(if we had any) here who will give you a diagnosis; we are now allowed to diagnose on AMHD. So I am just putting it out there for you so you know what NOT expect. I would make me feel good to give you the information you want, but that is not possible. How could you expect a physician to come on line, if there were any on line that would diagnose and put it on the line, and tell you what is wrong. I can't see that happening on any forum.

Telling you what you have to do is being able to look at you, talk to you, diagnose your symptoms and being able to talk to you directly. That can't be done on line and I know you are frustated by your whole procedure with your own doctor, doctors, whatever, but that is the way it as to be and you have to be patient.

Tickle,

Thank you for your honesty. I understand what you've said; however, I'm not looking for a diagnosis, I'm trying to figure out the possibilities of what may be happening.

I fully understand that w/o the tests I won't know for sure, but my doctor did not have time to discuss the possibilities of what may be wrong (because she was on call and had an emergency). After reading your reply, though,I see that I probably should have also explained that in my initial post.

Anyway, I am most definitely aware that I cannot get a real diagnosis online, but I still do appreciate you taking time reading my post and attempting to offer your best advice.

Thank you again.

Warmest Regards,

K

First, it's not good to dictate who can or cannot answer your question. We are all volunteers here who volunteer our time to help you with your query. Second, there are no doctors that are members of this site, you get ordinary people who live ordinary lives. I am the only RN here who may be able to help you, so let me ask you a few questions so that I can get your situation.

1) How old are you?
2) Have you ever used any form of birth control? And, if so, what kind?
3) How old were you when you got your first period?
4) Have your periods always been heavy and irregular?
5) Are your periods painful?
6) Is the doctor you are seeing an OB/GYN?

Yes, you are correct, we cannot diagnose here, but maybe point you in the right direction.

Thank you!

First, I apologize if I come off sounding rude in my post. I've posted several different questions on other sites before and have gotten a lot of mean comments about how stupid my question is or they would offer no help at all. I guess over time it's jaded me.

Second, thank you for offering your help:

1. 26
2. Yes, when I was 19 I started using DepoProvera, used it for 3 years. Then went on the pill (Yaz for a year and then Loestrin) Have been off BC for 1 year
3. 13
4. Yes, but while on Depo they stopped, came back 1 year after last injection
5. Yes, always have been. Worst is the first 3 days.
6. This is the first time I've seen her. Her bio online says she's an MD & an active member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American Medical Association. The name of the office is Midwest OB/GYN & Midwifery. She had to cut my appt. short cause of a medical emergency so just ordered some tests and told me to come back in 2 weeks.

It sounds to me like you might have a condition called endometriosis. Have you ever heard of that?

Hm, can't say that I have... but I'll be sure to look it up and read the symptoms. Thank you again for your reply. I'm not going to automatically assume I have this condition but it will definitely help me understand what may be happening with my body. That will at least help me get through the next few weeks. Thanks again!

I am going to bed now. Worked all night in the ER and L&D, but please keep me posted as to what you find out.
