So I lied about my age to a police officer and was sent to juvi. I was charged with receiving stolen property and assault in the third degree in 08, But I was told the statue of limitations has passed. How can I get that taken care of if I'm trying to get into the military? No warrant was ever issued for my arrest nor have I had a court date for any of it.

So, you were arrested and charged but let go and the charges were dropped?

Is that what happened?

Or is it more complicated than that?

The police chief said they couldn't charge me now cause the statue of limitations has passed, But he won't release any information to my recruiter. I was also told the charges would come up when I have my live scan. I was wondering how I can get any information saying that the charges was over and done with.

I was charged with assault in the 3rd degree in 08, But the statue of limitations has passed, But the chief of police won't give my army recruiter any info on the case because I said I was a minor when I wasn't. How can I get this charge taken care of if the statue of limitations has passed? I've had a live scan done and it's the only thing holding me back. Any advice?

If you were "arrested" you were charged, and that stops the statue of limitation unless the charges were dropped.

You need to find out more exactly what the police and courts did. I would hire an attorney to investigate.

Please do not start a new thread for the same subject, they have been merged.

Once you were charged, it stops the statue of limitation.
So unless they dropped the charges, the time has not ran out.

Right, I agree with FrChuck - something here isn't being explained properly.
