We are putting in a new porch, and have 2 options to consider with the sewer clean out. a) move it further away from the house to in front of the porch OR b) extend the clean out higher and cap it flush with the porch (which will be concrete.

Any suggestions on the best option?

Unless moving it requires a lot of digging, I'd move it. Do you really want a cleanout in your new patio? If the patio is the best solution for you, install a water meter box so that it will be flush and then you could open it for access.

I'm assuming that the plumber who suggested extending it did so to avoid the digging. It would need to be moved about 6 feet out from where it currently is. My inclination is to move it. Thanks for your feedback!

Brian, we can't see any green thumb on your posts. Are you sure you set this up correctly for tips? LOL Click on my name and look at my profile and you'll see a SUPPORT THIS MEMBER space, that's how you get tips. Because, have you checked with your building department/inspector to see if a permit is required for this, likely will be.City, local, state plumbing codes may answer this one if a permit is needed

Yes - separate permit is required for this.

OK, ask the inspector where he will approve a clean out location. I think you will need your shovel.
