It turns over but won't catch. It is almost like it is not getting gas but it smells like it is flooded. It is a 3.1 multiport fuel injected

A bad Ignition Control Module could do it (BWD CBE104Z, with a lifetime warranty, from Advance Auto Parts, $92.39). Easy to install yourself.

Fuel is building up, since the ignition system is not firing properly. Get this fixed, prior to keep trying to start it, since you can blow the exhaust system off the car from the build-up of gas and/or you can damage the catalytic converter.

Tx is very correct.
You may also need to replace the spark plugs due to fouling.
Also ckeck for fuel getting into the engine oil by smelling the oil on your engine's dipstick. If you smell any gas smell, change the oil and filter before running the engine. Gas does not make a good lubricant for engine bearings.
