Could have fried a cell in the battery ,take it in and have it loaded tested , if it test good come back and I'll give you more ideas but you need to make sure the battery is good.

The battery is dead now I will just buy a new battery, but the smell is like a burnt clutch smell, the battery will take a charge but does not hold over night, does it have and alternator or something else I could have fried?
Thanks

The smell is the acid in the battery.
Which means its shorting out insde.
I agree you should get a new battery then go from there
It should have a stator and a regulater , this is what charges the battery, the stator is under the flywheel .the regulator is the little silver triangle thing on the side of the motor has three wires coming to it.
