I have a Toshiba DR570KU DVD recorder and I have a DVR from my cable company. I have tried and tried to figure this out but I need better detailed instructions on how to hook these two up so that I can record my cable programs from the DVR. No matter what I do it seems that these two do not hook up together. I had it sort of figured out but I had no sound. Now I don't know how I did it. I would be very grateful if you could please tell me how to do this. Thank you.

It depends on what outputs you have from the DVR and what inputs you have from the DVD. Generally you output from the cable box to the DVD then from the DVD to the TV. If you have HDMI outputs from the DVR to DVD and HDMI from the DVD to the TV, then go that route. But otherwise you need to see what input/output combinations give you the best picture.

The best method, if your cable box supports it, would be the following:
S-Video out from cable box, into the "S-VIDEO IN" on the DVD recorder (located between the audio in and audio out connections). And composite audio (white/red RCA connections) out from cable box into the "AUDIO IN (L1)" connection.
When setting up a recording, make sure to record from L1 or Line 1.
If you want more details on interfacing the cable box and your DVD recorder with your TV, I will need your TV's model number.
NOTE: If your cable box does not have S-Video output, then you will need to use the composite video instead. This is the yellow RCA connector. You will plug this into the yellow connector above the "AUDIO IN (L1)" white and red connections.
