I'm going to give you as much discription of the story as I can rememder.
The main character of the book is a girl and she has enterered a student exchange program(if that was it) she is on a train with a bunch of others that are going to the same program. She wakes up early an still on the train then another girl joine's her she then tells her that she just lost it, they talk, and then become friends from there on. I think the story takes place in the 80's or early 90's.
While at the camp there are several groups she enters a group with a her new friend the group there in turns out to be the most roudiest. There group argues most of the time but out of all the other groups at that exchange training camp there's turns out the best. Cause the other groups other's have dropped out or are having some personel problems with others from there groups.(it's annoying to keep saying groups but it's simply easy)
This is a Canadian exchange program to Asia. Having finished her training she then goes to a dorm somewhere in asia then stays at peoples homes who are participaiting in the program.
At one greeting gathering where they have finished there extra training at the dorms, everyone is sitting down facing someone who is tailking at the podem through a microphone saying there happy to have them there in there country. The girl however isn't listening she is looking down thinking about something(I can't remember what) and ignoring the everything else. Her friend then nudge's her getting her attention she tells her that the guy who has been speaking all this time has been staring at her the whole time. Looking up at him and it's love at first sight seems for them both.
Little bit later turns out they met before when the participant's of the program were posing for a photograph they both are standing side by side(I think)mabye at a airport.
She then goes stay at this one house and there families then at his house with his family and village. The group is still together they just each stay in different house's with families at the village there at at the moment. Living and working with them in there fields. A part I remember is that they are working in a rice field an some women of that home village find it funny that the guys from the group are also working in the rice fields.
And while they are working a girl starts to scream runs out of the fields then the others follow cause there were leeches on all there legs. The native's and the guys find this amusing. The girls get the leeches off by burning them then they go back to working in the rice fields but each with a cigrette to burn off any other leeches.
While at his house she gets to know him and his family, his mother notices their feelings for each other when her son is outside and the girl stares at him happily from inside with her. The mother feels sorry for them both cause her family has plans for the son to marry someone local and fulfill family obligations. And knows the girl will return to her country.
This is as much as I can remember and I think I gave the discriptions within the timeline of the story.
If anyone knows the title or author of this book please tell me this has been a special book for me that I remember after reading it once. I really want to read it again!
