I do not know the author or name of book that I read, and wish to read again. It starts in forest near the Appalatian Trail. Main character and wife have cabin they are renovating. Stranger come by and helps the husband but then disables him and forces him to watch while he rapes and murders the wife. Main Character does not die and searches for killer to no avail. Remarries and then he and wife are again attacked by the killer who is intent on repeating the original situation. Of course, he is not successful.
