We just lost our 3 year old pit lab mix named Dao. He died in his sleep on Monday morning at 7:30 I heard him take his last breath. Our 1 year old Labador Socrates does not want to eat or play. He is extremley sad. We are all sad. Our dog was such a wonderful well behaved dog and we miss him dearly. We are not really sure what to do about our other dog as he has no desire to do anything. We give him extra attention but nothing seems to work. We are not emotionally ready for another dog and I am not comfortable leaving him alone at this point in time. Any tips as to how to get him out of his sorrows? I know dogs and people all greive in their own way but I am really worried about him and I really don't want him to die because he is too sad about his older brother.
Thank you!

Has Socrates been eating and drinking water?

I'm so sorry to hear about Dao. I'm a cat person, and losing one of them is like losing my right arm. And the other cats in the house know something's wrong and someone is missing. It usually takes few weeks before our cats get back into a normal routine, although the cat hierarchy is messed up and has to adjust itself.

Books are written about animals' emotions. Yes, Socrates is grieving. Continue to give him lots of love and attention.
