I ran the front driver side wheel up on a curb and back down it hit hard, then after that the fuse to the breaks and horn was blown. I parked the car and the next time I got in it it would not go into gear, not realizing that the fuse was blown or that the horn/break light fuse would cause this to happen, I guess it is some safety switch that occurs when the break lights go out. I have replaced the fuse but anytime I hit the horn the same fuse blows again and I have to replace the fuse to get the car into gear and have break lights. I do know how to use the overide switch to get it into gear, but that is not the solution. Where do I start with trying to fix this problem?

Inspect the wiring at the area where the car struck the curb. It sounds like some of the wiring has been pinched and is shorting to ground when the button is pushed.

Thanks for the response. Would you know if the wiring is viewable or tucked away in places you might not expect?

If the harness was damaged by contact with the curb, look in that area.

Also check the brake light switch underneath the brake pedalif that is damaged from the impact or etc replace it

Thanks to everyone for your responses, it was the wiring harness at the steering column. Works fine now.

Thanks again.
