I am looking for suggestions on fixing our pool. It is a 24' round doughboy pool. It is only about 9 yrs old. I contacted the pool place and they say doughboy won't warranty the wall even though it has a 25 yr warranty. The rust came from a seepage around the skimmer and has caused the wall to rust and now, my pool wall burst and split at this point.

My husband says he is just going to cut out a 2 to 3 foot section and replace it with steel from the hardware store. I think Doughboy should be liable for some of this. However, in their warranty it is stated about "corrosion" and that is NOT covered. So pool buyers beware of this clause.

Replacing the area with sheet metal should work fine

I am sure your husband is thinking of galvanized sheet steel which will not rust, much. However, the edges of that sheet are no longer galvanized where the shear made its cut. Sheet aluminium would be better and it must be screwed into the rest of the wall.

He is right it needs to be anchored to the existing wall somehow, when you do this you should also replace all of the gaskets and the face ring too
