The picture is too small to tell. Can you give us a bigger picture?

Are you positive that it is a Beetle?

If so, then browse some Beetle pics here (http://www.google.com/search?q=beetles&hl=en&gbv=2&biw=1152&bih=688&prmd=ivns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=ymP7TePhOIKSgQfsrs3uCg&ved=0CDwQsAQ)and let us know if you find the one that looks like the critter you're asking about.

You can see a larger version of the picture by losing the _s extension: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3243/5842460596_5dfb78105c.jpg.

It looks to me like a member of the darkling beetle family. Judging by size, the "playing dead" behavior, and the shape of the antennae, I'd say it's probably a red flour beetle or confused flour beetle (http://www.aegispestcontrolservices.com/files/Beetle-Confused-Flour.jpg).

Could also be a June bug.

They're very common, and not at all harmful.

Also, this thread should be in entomology.
