Is catnip harmful and what is the maximum dose that you can give a 9 year old spayed female cat?

As far as I know, catnip is not harmful. I would not give it everyday personally, but never heard that it was harmful.

Catnip is not harmful but the cat can go a little crazy from too much. I have a 4 year old spayed female and we have to keep the catnip away because she runs around the house and goes completely loco, but since your cat is a little older she won't be as crazy andshe would have tons of fun :D :D

From Nepeta - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nepeta):

Cat owners do not need to worry about allowing their cats access to catnip because there are, for the most part, no negative side effects to doing so. However, some cats become overly excited when exposed to catnip, so aging or obese cats with heart troubles should be kept away from it. A diabetic cat can also experience complications from catnip.
