My dog is a Bull mastiff cross and is 14 years and is a bit on the heavy side. We think he has arthritis. If anyone knows any ways to make him comfortable and pain free till we take him to the vet. Please tell me any answers you have. :( PLEASE HELP US

Until you can get him to the vet, the most quick way to give him relief is to give him an aspirin. Before you ask, yes, it is okay to give a dog aspirin. Just give it to him after he eats something. DO NOT give him tylenol or anything else. Aspirin is the only thing you can give him safely. But, frankly I am only answering this because you asked. I personally don't recommend anything until the vet gives him a thorough check to make sure it is arthritis. Please take him to the vet this week. If that poor boy has arthritis, there is a wonderful medication that the vet can prescribe that will really help him. The more quick you get him on it, the better life will be for him.
Ms. Ruby loves Bull Mastiffs. Great play pals.

Ruby is absolutely correct that aspirin is the only over the copunter pain reliever safe for dogs. Buffered aspirin is better than regular. The dose is 5 mg per pound of body weight, or a regular 325 mg tablet for a 65 pound dog every 8 hours. Be sure and tell the vet about the aspirin.
