I was in the shower this morning and I heard my toilet start to gurgle. Within a minute the shower stopped draining. I turned the shower off and about a minute later the toilet and shower both gurgled and the shower drained. This is a new house. We haven't even lived here for two years, and I didn't think that normally a septic tank needed to be cleaned that soon. Could this be a clog or air in the drain pipe? (this happened a week ago as well but has done it any time in between)

Hi Amy... sounds like the bathroom drain pipe is partially clogged. Call a local plumber and have him snake the drain.
