Replacing the Ignition Control Module (ICM) and coil will solve the problem:

I would also replace the distributor cap and rotor, if they have not been changed in the last 60,000 miles.

I replaced the distributor cap not the rotor. If the rotors bad then will that break the distributor, and what is attacht to the rotors to make the rotor bad

It won't break the distributor but the internal resistance of an old rotor can become so great that the secondary voltage discharges into the ICM and coil, which get ruined. Your main problem is the ICM and/or coil. While you have the distributor opened, however, it's best to replace the ICM, coil, and rotor.
