Maybe a Lifetime Movie. Boy obsessed with video cameras. Mother dies(suicide) he films it but doesn't remember what happened until he watches it. Films family and friends constantly, also makes mini-docs about girls.

Thanks for the reply, not sure if that's the one, I'm actually looking for this film for a poster on IMDB. Have to admit this one has me 'stumped' I'm usually quite good with Lifetime Movies.will get back to you later and let you know.
