I am a 19 year old female, and recently (for about three or four days now) have been getting some brown discharge in my underwear. I am not on my period, in fact it doesn't even smell like blood. What could this be and why? Should I see my doctor? :confused:

Always see your doctor if you're unsure about discharge. Brown could be old blood though. Are you on birth control? Where in your cycle are you - just after period, middle, due on?

Mid cycle spotting could be due to ovulaton and towards the end of a cycle spotting could be due to a baby implanting in your womb lining or could also be due to a progesterone deficiency. These things don't apply though if you're on the pill or similar.

Yes I am on birth control. I should be starting my period within the next couple days. It's been almost a week that it's been happening. Should it disappear or go away mostly after my period ends next week?

If you're on birth control I would go and see your doctor just to be on the safe side. You might need to change your pill or have a smear test or some swabs taken.
