I was asked this question on job interview and need someone to explain how to answer it.

Give an example of a time when you overlooked an activity when planning a new initiative. What did you do to overcome this and what impact did it have?

Thank you all

Phony example: I'm a librarian in charge of new programs. I advertised that a women's group would meet on Thursday morning to organize and set up a book discussion group. I set up the meeting room with doughnuts and coffee. Ten women showed up, and two of them each brought a toddler. I had not considered that the group would need a babysitter.

I panicked for only a minute, then quickly rounded up a grandmother-y library volunteer who was processing DVDs in another part of the library. She babysat the children in the story hour room where there were toys and puzzles for small children.

The meeting was successful, and I immediately began working on finding a volunteer sitter who would show up for each discussion group meeting.

Impact: I wrote up detailed procedures for starting new programs.
