I have a question similar to this trend, but our case is different in the fact that my husband's parents already passed (11 years ago)in Guatemala, and it has taken this long to get the will probated. The estate is mainly properties that we intend to sell, and bring the money to the USA. We have already paid inheritance taxes in Guatemala. We are both US citizens and so were his parents. There are no restrictions depositing the money in either an American Bank or a Guatemalan bank in dollars. Can you tell us what kind of taxes to expect to pay. We live in Texas.

No taxes are due - the US does not have an inheritance tax, and neither does Texas. If any estate taxes had been due that should have been taken care of by the executor within a year of the parents' death, using assets from the estate.
