:confused:PLEASE READ THIS LONG POST VERY CAREFULLY SO THAT I GET THE CORRECT ANSWER. THANK YOU. (My son was living with me when he got laid off for over a year. He started school while living here, so when I filled out my FAFSA in 2009, I had to bring in an Affidavit from him stating he was living here to prove he was to my financial aid office. In 2010-2011 FAFSA he was only in his second semester, as he was on academic probation, and was living back and forth with his girlfriend, so he changed his address to hers to receive his check there. He changed it with the school but not on his FAFSA. When I did my 2010-2011 FAFSA my tax advisor told me I could claim him as a relative dependent although he is an independent in school - he is 32 years old. I thought if it wasn't right, the IRS would not accept it, but they did, so I think I'm okay. Now he's back in school and I told him he would have to change his address as he just did a renewal FAFSA, and he did not work and has no tax return for 2010, and although he received his checks at his girlfriend's house (because he didn't want to pick them up at MOMMY's house), I still paid all of his bills (over 50% for sure of his living expenses) as the rule stated that I read. I wanted to make sure I am okay, as his girlfriend's address he put on file at his school, and not on his FAFSA.. and I graduate with my associate degree in November, 2011, but plan to go directly on at the school he is attending.. Should I change my FAFSA now or wait until the next one? I am kind of worried about this? I read everything on the FAFSA, and made sure he was an independent even though he lived with me because he was born before 1983 or something like that, but I took care of his living expenses so far up until now way more than 50%. I'd like a financisl advisor to answer this so I'm sure I did the right thing for sure, and if not when I should change it and how? When I go to his school for my Bachelor's, I don't want any trouble with my financial aid! As I don't think I did anything wrong, but I want to know for sure . The Fafsa asks"Do you think you will be paying more than 50% of a child (which he is not) or person's living expenses in 2011? He still has no job, so I don't think anything in that direction is going to change as far as me paying his bills, except for the excess money he gets from school , from the pell and the 2 direct loans he took out. so I answered yes. Please get back to me ASAP and tell me if I am right about this, or if not, what I should do to correct it. I cannot afford to have any problem with my financial aid once I start in December or January of 2012 at the school he now attends. Thanks very much.:confused:

It may take up to several days at times for the right expect to be online and to read your questions.

But the aid officer at your school should and would be the best person to discuss this with
