Hello. I am currently twenty nine weeks pregenant with my third child in two and a half years (eek! I know!) For the last week I have had constant cramping, sharp pain in the MIDDLE of my pelvis (not where round ligament pain has ever troubled me before) and a dull, lower back ache. I have associated these symptoms with my IBS because the contractions that I do have are very irregular and feel more like Braxton Hicks. However, my first child was born at 35 weeks, my second 32, and approx. two weeks ago I tested positive for and FFn and my cervix was at 24mm. Should I be concerned enough to go to the hospital ASAP, or can I continue to attribute the discomfort to my G.I. issues until Monday? Thanks.

As a Labor and Delivery nurse myself, I will be honest with you in that we cannot advise you what exactly to do in your situation.

Since your 3 pregnancies were so close together, it is possible that your cervical dilitation is due to the closeness of your pregnancies and that your cervix never completely closed.

Since it already appears that you may have what is called an incompetent cervix, you probably should go get checked out.
