Are you going to be one of the expected 2 BILLION people following the latest British Royal Wedding?

Although I'm usually up by that time of day. I certainly have better things to do.

I have heard it tell that the Brits are cool with the Royal leaches living high on the hog off their tax shilling .I have also heard it tell that having these faux celebs are good for tourism.
But us Yanks have a natural dislike of royalty. Every time we've tried something similar here the families involved have not lived up to expectations.

On the positive side ; the Prince appears to be of solid character and unlike his ancestors of old ,is marrying outside the traditional circle of inbreeds.

Hi ben:

I'll be having a birthday party. Am I happy for the young couple? Sure. Will I be watching? No.

Ah no, I watched his mothers wedding, now I feel old, ill catch the highlights.

Really I'm surprised Kate has not been on AMHD considering the family she's marrying into, headings to questions may include,

Controlling future mother in law.

I feel my every move is being watched.

I'm being compared to my dead mother in law.

Etc etc etc.

I wonder will Tony Blair watch since he's being snubbed, or maybe himself and Gordon Brown will chill out on the couch and relive their glory days.

I'm sorry to say Tom, but I actually take offence to that statement.
The Royal Family cost VASTLY less than the US First Family and actually do bring something to the country.

If it 's any consolation ; I feel similar about the way the 1st Family junkets all over the world on perpetual vacation.

Most Canadians are really excited to witness The wedding. For us in some parts of Canada it will start at 3 am our time. Probably end up watching the highlights as I work early in the morning.

I don't get all this silly wedding hype. But then again I don't understand celebrity worship to begin with.

My reaction every time I see ads hyping this for American television is "who cares?" Of course if you haven't heard or seen the billboards we may not be around to witness the nuptials.

The royal wedding.

If I yawn it is in anticipation of that event.
Unlike the other 33% of Earths entire population,
I would rather kick bowling balls in my bare feet
Than suffer through the wedding.

And at least the money spent is not helping
Kill, cripple, make homeless , or harm anyone, anywhere.

It does make me think of what could be accomplished if that much
Interest could be generated in the things we should
Be working on.

I will be probably be filling sandbags getting ready
For the floods we are almost certain to have here in Utah
If it is not still snowing like yesterday and today.

If not that , I have a bottle of 1983 BV Napa Valley Private Reserve Georges de Latour Cabernet Sauvignon I will uncork in memory of the flooding we had in 1983 that almost washed Salt Lake City into the Great Salt Lake.

Cheers!

Curly ;will this marriage be a restoration of British pride and identity ? Will you rebuild your fleet ?

If that's so I'm all for it.

In honor of tomorrow I'll sing a refrain:

When Britain first, at heaven's command,
Arose from out the azure main,
Arose, arose, arose from out the a-azure main,
This was the charter, the charter of the land,
And guardian angels sang this strain:

Rule Britania!
Britannia rule the waves.
Britons never, never, never shall be slaves.

Rule Britannia!
Britannia rule the waves.
Britons never, never, never shall be slaves.

The nations, not so blest as thee,
Must in their turn, to tyrants fall,
Must in ,must in, must in their turn, to tyrants fall,
While thou shalt flourish, shalt flourish great and free,
The dread and envy of them all.

Rule Britannia!
Britannia rule the waves.
Britons never, never, never shall be slaves.

Rule Britannia!
Britannia rule the waves.
Brittons never, never, never shall be slaves.

Funny you should post that as what is the international maritime language ;)

LOL! Good. I thought you were going to say that I must be gay because only your gay friends are watching it. :)

Truthfully, it is a totally girlie reason that I'm watching it. I just want to see her dress. Damnit. I'm such a girl! Whodda thunk? :o

Just thought you might like to put it all in perspective
YouTube - The Chaser's Royal Wedding | World Wedding Fever (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHdTVEEC0i4&feature=player_embedded)
While you are there take a look at some of the other features after the close, very droll!
