Hello I need some advice. I would like to know what rights I have as the mother of my child turned up at my house last week and handed me my child saying she wanted nothing to do with her anymore. She gave her to me with only the clothes on her back, I Went out straight away and brought her everything she needed. I would like to make it clear that this is also not the first time she has done this. I have messages and conversations where she has actually stated she wants nothing more to do with her and I can her her. She has no accommodation of her own and has not been employeed for a long time, I however have a stable well paid job and my own housing. She is now saying she wants her back and I was wondering if I have any rights to keep her

Are you on the birth certificate? What you need to do is get into court right away and excersize your rights as a parent. If there is no custody agreement at this time and your not on the birthcertificate then you may have to return the child "on demand".

See a lawyer as fast as you can and get this pushed through.

You left out some other very key pieces of info. Has paternity been established? How old is the child?

But the bottom line is you need to file for primary custody immediately. You should have done that the next day after she left the child with you.
