McDonald's held a "National Day of Hiring" during which they had plans to hire 50,000 people in one day. It turned into a McMess in Cleveland when a McFight broke out (http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/04/20/3-struck-car-fight-mcdonalds-hiring-day-ohio/). 3 people were injured and 2 arrested.
If only they had passed out superhero capes (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110419/ap_on_re_us/us_capes_for_the_unemployed) instead. Workforce Central Florida spent more than $14,000 to give 6000 capes to the jobless to vanquish "Dr. Evil Unemployment."
How about we vanquish government stupidity instead.

Yeah, it's a huge destination for foreign tourists. But it's not the tourists that do the crazy things oddly enough, it's the locals - just like the link you posted.

Or the promise the President made that with the addition of $800 billion bucket list spending to the US debt he could keep unemployment below 8% .

Actually, they HAVE done a lot... They've made abortion harder to get, it's harder to register new voters, they've gotten rid of public service unions, they're taking over poor black cities so their rich buddies can build a golf course on what was formerly, the city's beach, and they're passing laws that will require presidential candidates to show their birth certificates...
You know, stuff on the JOBS front.

Yeah remember that Obama and Biden 'laser like focus' on job creation ?
I think Micky D's will fire all these new employees soon. They are going to find that people can't afford fries with that tank of gas.

Or maybe Micky D's can hire because they got that waiver from Obamacare ?

And speaking of a tank of gas, Minnesota is looking for volunteers (http://www.dot.state.mn.us/mileagebaseduserfee/index.html) to help Big Brother test their new mileage tax system since all that gas tax revenue is about to go down the tubes as we move to smaller, less safe hybrids and people just drive less because of gas taxes.
Yeah, the consequences of electing this man Obama just keep rolling in...

What recession? Last time I looked Australia was part of the rest of the planet and there is no recession here, we hardly blinked when you took a dive over there, which is a first for us, but by sending all your jobs offshore you can no longer export your unemployment. McDonalds have learned one thing well, when the economy is in downturn people don't eat healthy

Our jobs are going where the markets are.
Add to that the damn efficiency thingy. When Micky D's automates then those service jobs will be gonzo too.

Total agreement there... People aren't going to go to the time and considerable expense of college to work for a pittance because a group of managers overvalue their contributions in creating paperwork and decide they should be paid ever more while to get that share of the pie... they take away the money for the people who actually create the value for the Company (I.E. actually have their hands on the product). And I have worked for efficient manufacturers, and spectacularly inefficient ones before I literally ran from that sector into a different one.
