My boy friend was sentenced to three years probation for a DUI in 2005 and nearly 18000 in fines and restitution and because he was having a hard time making payments the extended his probation another five years. And was told at the end of five years his debt would be turned over to a collection agency is this true. Or is his probation officer just blowing smoke up his you know what. We live in Az

It's ALL at the discretion of the Court BUT my guess would be that they don't want the Statute to run. I believe what the PO said.
