I have a canon Mp550 and it keeps doing nothing but showing me how to put ink in the printer In Einstein words "Referring to the "Getting started" instructions" How do I stop the printer from doing this

I went from a nice old printer to a new glitzy HP model, and I get more grief from the damn thing. I have to 'agree' to steps I don't want and then cancel them when they have started, rather than just bypassing them. I suspect that your printer, like mine, won't let it operate without both a black and a color cartridge? Could that be it? Or is there an X or other symbol that you can touch to cancel the step?

You may actually have to read the manual..

I think I thrown the manual out because I'm that lazy to lay eye contact on a sheet of paper

If the printer has separate black and color cartridges, both must be installed (even if you only want black) before the printer will function. I have heard that they sell blank dummy cartridges to by pass the color one(s) but I have never looked into it myself. Get the color cartridge(s) and use them very sparingly every month or so to keep the printer heads from drying up. Maybe later you might want to use color for a few pictures you want to print and just leaving them sit is not a good idea.
