This is for all you dane breeders, rescue, long time owners. I need someone who knows a great deal about danes. The question---if you feed a dane puppy a food that is high in protein, such as 27 to over 30%, could it possibly cause nephritis in the dog at around 18 months. Is this always a genetic disorder or could it be from the high protein food or even possibly a congenital disorder?

You likely know more about this than most of us do. If you do a net search, you should be better able to judge the reliability of what you find.

I do know that feeding a rich puppy food does add to the genetic problems with hips.
