I have a 23 year old son who has been drinking for a long time. I along with his family talked to him and tried to get him into counseling for many years but he is in denial and refused to go. Now that he's 23, he looks swollen and often talks about ending his life. He is deeply depressed and lives his life recklessly. I know the alcohol has a lot to do with his behavior but the mind behind it all is very sadden and depressed. I don't have coverage for insurance to help him because I was laid off and the money I have pays for the rent, food and other bills. How can I get him evaluated for counseling and insurance?

You are not going to get ( in the US) insurance that will pay for his current illness. Most will have at least a one year pre-existing clause. Some longer.

There is often low cost counseling though state sponsored therapist, you will need to call around. These types of counselors charge according to income
