I am being sued by a debt collector in Pennsylvania. I am not disputing the charge and am willing to make payments, I just don't want to go to court. What can I do?

IN MY EXPERIENCE, once a lawyer gets involved the only thing to do is pay the debt and the court fees. You can go to court and explain yourself, but that's really it. Depending on the type of debt they may be able to attack your paycheck and/or bank account.

True. They might go after your bank account, but they can only do it after the judgment goes in favor of them.

If you don't want to go to court, then pay the debt in full. You MAY avoid court by entering into a settlement agreement for a payment plan. Many creditors will still want to get a judgment so they don't have to go through the process if you default on the agreement.
