Do you mean 2^{x+2}=4^{-x}?

Use the indices rule:

a^{x+y} = a^x\ .\ a^y

a^{-b} = \frac{1}{a^b}

a^{xy} = (a^x)^y

You might want to do a substitution to make things easier. Something like... y = 2^x
