My son and his girlfriend had a daughter while they were young. They lived together for 3or 4 years in which time they had another daughter. When the oldest was 3 and the youngest was 18months their mother took off. My son has been raising the girls on his own ever since. The oldest is almost 12. When my sone went to get a copy of the oldest girls birth cert for her to start kindergarten the then found out No father was listed. A friend said there was a way to go to the court and file to have his name put on without having to go the dna route but I don't remember what it was called. My son is on a really tight income. He was awarded child support years ago but has never received a penny. He needs the easiest way to do this as they have not heard from the mom in several years. Any advise?

The easiest way is your son to sign paternity acknowledgment.

ANY question on law needs to include your general locale as laws vary by area.

Signing an Acknowledgment of Paternity may be the way to go in your area. But to be certain we need to know the area. If he was awarded child support for both children, the court order may have listed him as the legal father. That paperwork may be all he needs to show he's the legal father.
