I am a former I've heroin user... have been in recovery for about 3 years. Recently I have had access to percocet and began using maybe 1 or to a day for a week at a time... yes I know I should never have started but I did so now I fear that I will have difficulty trying to stop taking them, and while I know it is a very minimal amount that I take I KNOW how bad withdrawal can be and I fear having to go through it.. I usually take them maybe 20 days a month or so... am I going to have any kind of withdrawal from that small amount?

Yes.. you are now in fact. You don't have a prescription for them... you weren't prescribed them by a doctor. You don't have a reason to be taking them.

Because there is no legitimate reason for you to take them without a doctors prescription means you are abusing them.

Not everyone experiences withdrawal from Percocets. Many don't. Further, the dosage-across-time you mention is not indicative of increased tolerance at this point.

The most common method for withdrawal is usually gradual dose reduction. That also allows for assessment of withdrawal severity. Additionally, your pattern of usage probably answers your question as well. Between use the intensity of craving is actually a brief withdrawal.

Any drug cessation is best handled under medical supervision, not necessarily inpatient, in order to guard against unexpected developments. That is my first recommendation.

Overall, it sounds like you are at a stage where withdrawal would be minimal. Continued usage, as you know, will lead to escalating physical dependence.

I wish you the best
