I have heard of a new product that is used for washer/dryer installation. It is a concave "wall" that replaces drywall. The "wall" has appropriate hook-ups for the washer and dryer venting. Purpose of the wall is to make appliances sit closer to the exterior wall, make installation easier and reduce the length of dryer vent hose (for safety). Does anyone know the trade name of this product?

Thank you.

I have done many installations and never heard of this product. Your curved section will be limited by the spacing of the wall studs. 16 in. is standard but you might even have 24 in. on center. In many cases the wall cavity holds the supply pipes or drain vent. If you really need that extra 2 in. you could cut out the dry wall behind the washer a few inches below the top of the washer. No one will see this missing piece but, if you ever sell, you will most likely be required to replace the drywall.
