If I am 17 years old, in the state of Ohio, and I get pregnant with a 30 year old, how much trouble could he get in? Because I understand the sex offender laws, but would they really lock someone away for a long time and keep them from their child for that reason, when it was all consensual?

The age of consent in Ohio appears to be 16. So, assuming you were 17 when he first had sex with you, he should be OK.

Yes, if he did commit statutory rape they very well might lock him away for a very long time.

Yes, and No. This is complicated. If you live at home, and are not emancipated from your parents, they have control over you until you are legally 18. Your parents can bring charges against the person. They don't need your permission to do so. However, that being said, the fact that you had consented to the action can be argued by his attorney. If it is his first offense (he has never ben in trouble), that will come into account also. Who is filing the charges?

What charges do you think the parents can file and under what conditions?

Really? That's news to me. If you look here you will learn something different.

Age of Consent - by State (http://www.webistry.net/jan/consent.html)

This is not your neighborhood where you dole out advice to your local teens, this is a legal board where all advice should conform to the law.

While I would love to call him a pediphile and a pervert, ( OK, may do that anyway) this is not the moral board, not the relationship board, but the legal board,

In fact in many states, 16 and 17 year old can have sex with anyone they want and the other person not be in legal trouble unless they are a teacher or someone with some level of authority over them, In those cases it may be iffy, as to if they were forced by the level of control they have over the minor.

But if you had sex under the age of consent, they will very gladly send him away for years, make him a sex offender for the rest of his life and make it hard for him to see the child.
