I hope they do, honestly.

And I hope he goes to prison for snake oil selling, or whatever the actual crime is there. I just got up and haven't had coffee yet, so I can't think enough to come up with it.

I hope they do, honestly. Hello Synn:

Religion ought to be illegal. It HURTS more people than anything I can think of. Hopefully, there will be an enlightenment where we FINALLY rid ourselves of this pox.

What is truly sad is the number of people who were deceived. It only goes to show how hungry people are for something to grasp onto. They will run to any one who offers any hope, but turn from God and his unfailing love.

I did not read all the comments on this OP yet.
My observation is the Bible says no one knows when...

Now that we know that the Rapture didn't happen... or that too few people qualified... can we show the same degree of skepticism and doubt when secular apocalypse chicken littles sell their end of the world pablum ?

Hi Tom,

I guess the difference is that scientific prediction tends to be more accurate. When it comes to science we can check the calculations in order to determine the prediction. If a massive asteroid was heading toward earth and it was expected to pass within a few thousand miles of our planet there would be some type of percentage possibility it will hit. Provided we can trust Newton's calculations; which we can, predictions will match observations.

I also guess the Bible is not good as specific predictions and I am not sure it even purports to. Having said all of that I suspect you have an agenda you want to push. Global warming, climate change?

How many billions of dollars have been spent to address the prophet of doom... the cult of Al the Goracle of Tennessee ?
But it is not only environmental... it's economical ,geo-political doomsday predicitions .
Those decisions made to address those prophesies have affected humanity much more profoundly that religious kooks .I have not seen evidence that scientists ,politicians ,economists ,have a better track record of predicting the future than the Bible ,or Nostradamus ,or any other false prophet .

Let's not take this off on a tangent. No more on other doomsday theorists here.

Right, this topic has effectively ended so if you want to discuss something else, then start a new thread.

I have to say I was very disappointed that the Rapture didn't happen. I was all set to go looting!!

I am happily here today!! When 6:00 hit at my place, I was drinking a Carona and a shot of Jack Daniels. Not only was I not afraid at that moment, but the entire day ended up being a great day and a very beautiful day as well! Good to be here and see that you all are doing well!

I have to say I was very disappointed that the Rapture didn't happen. I was all set to go looting!!!!!

The people in North Minneapolis didn't bother with the Rapture for that--they just waited until the tornados yesterday. Last night, we had a curfew in Minneapolis for the first time since the 1960s and the race riots then.

I'm not disappointed at all, honestly. I'm having too much fun making fun of the whole thing.

Has Camping made a statement yet? He was in hiding over the weekend, but I thought he would have said something today.

Harold Camping is "mystified" and "a little bewildered" today that the Rapture did not go as he predicted, an associate of the California preacher told ABC News.

Has Headstrongboy posted at all on the site? I haven't seen him in a few days. I really wonder if he'll keep his promise and come here to admit that he was wrong.

Ben, did you marinate the crow? You could do a slow roast on the bbq with beer, just shove the beer bottle up the crows butt and bbq. It's really good with chicken, and after all, most birds taste like chicken, right? ;)

He had been hedging a bit before he left the site to pack his suitcase.

When I was researching and writing my book on Texas missions, I found a primary source -- one of the missionaries had kept a journal. It was winter and the supply wagons hadn't come through yet, so the mission people were forced to hunt crow for food (apparently in plentiful supply and easy to shoot). The journaling missionary wrote about how horrible the crow meat was and how they spent the rest of the winter inventing recipes with various herbs and sauces in order to make the meat somewhat palatable. They cried tears of joy when the supply wagons finally arrived.

I can't see crow tasting good. I myself could never eat it. Not because of the taste, although that would definitely be a turn off, but because my father once had a pet crow.

He actually climbed a tower to steal a baby crow from a nest. The Queen (who was still in residence at the castle by the tower) called my Oma to tell her that her son was on the tower, and the Queen was worried.

The crows name was Jacob. My dad had him for years, and he was very tame. The neighbor shot him one day, because he was squawking. :(

Crows are carrion birds. I cannot imagine anything that eats carrion would taste good.

I can think of three carrion eaters that taste very good: lobsters, crabs and shrimp.

Of course, you'd expect that out of a scuba diver

Did I understand it correctly? Did I miss anything?

1) Saturday was a spiritual Rapture, not a physical one.
2) God's judgment and salvation were completed on Saturday.
3) God is no longer accepting converts.
4) Thus, there's no point in continuing to warn people about Judgment Day.
5) Oct. 21st is the real deal.

Camping's PR person was supposedly distraught and was muttering something about refunding money to donors. Some people spent their savings and maxed out their credit cards. Not sure what will be done for them.

Wouldn't it be a godly gesture if Camping paid people back? It might earn him the honor of First To Be Raptured.

Maybe he's saying that prediction has as much chance of being correct as Camping's?

The saddest part of this is, there will still be people who will buy into his latest prediction and act like idiots as a result, to the detriment of Christianity's image. See my sig line, yet again.

Not really. It's easy to get a very skewed picture of people who show compassion to folks that, by our standards, don't deserve it.

I tend to agree with you, in my profession I meet all kinds but find that drug dealers mix with their own kind, and by the same token, the people who buy from them mix with other druggees. It is an unfortunate fact of life. Then there are quilting bees, and all the lovely women who gather around a quilt to do that sort of get together. So you see, when life hands you scraps, make a quilt. Okay I am gone...

I doubt Camping can refund the money. I'm sure he spent some of it on his campaign. Doubtful that he spent the $100 million he reportedly received, but he did make billboards for all over the world, bought cars for his followers to spread the word... etc. etc.

But, why would he return the money? He's predicted a new date now. And when that one comes, and goes, and the world is still alive and well, and all it's inhabitants going about their daily lives, I'm sure he'll have yet another revelation, and select yet another date. Maybe he'll forget about the bible, and go with the Mayan theory of December 12, 2012 :)

That will give him some time to recuperate.

Hopefully the people sending him money have smartened up and seen the light... so to speak. ;)

Scam artists generally don't return the money they scam.
