My grandmother recently had a new sidewalk and front porch installed in concrete. Over the winter it pitted and flaked really bad. I am assuming she did not use the correct ice melt. How can this be repaired.

Top coating it with a new layer and reminding her that rock salt pits concrete,calcium chloride doesn't.
