Here's my background:

I am a visiting scholar and not a U.S. citizen.
I have been living in U.S. for almost 5 years, and I file the tax return as a resident after I stayed in U.S. for 3 years.
I live in Kentucky for only part of 2010, from 1/1/2010 to 11/21/2010. Then, I moved out of U.S. and back to my country.

Here's my question:
When filing the Kentucky State tax return, there are three options I can choose:

Form 740: Resident Tax Return (Long form)
Form 740-NP: Nonresident Tax Return
Form 740-NP: Part-Year Resident Tax Return

I think I need to file "Form 740-NP: Part-Year Resident Tax Return". However, this form requires me to "Enter 2 letter ID for your state of residence on December 31, 2010". I does not live in any U.S. states after 11/21/2010. How can I enter the it here?

Thanks a lot!

I would enter the name of the country you moved to. This really is moot, since the amounts on your federal return should agree with the amounts you show as KY source income in Section D of 470-NP. They ask for the other state so as to be able to compare the amounts you report on your federal return to the total amounts you report to each state. In your case KY is the only state involved, so columns A and B should match.
