Yeah... you have to answer the summons. But what is your question?

The debt collector who's suing me would not negotiate and never responded to my request for validation of the debt. I owe money to US Bank, but not the amt. they're saying. Can I get them to validate the debt through the court? Would it be part of my answer? Thanks!

Thanks.. That is exactly the sort of information we need.

They are required to validate the debt... in fact if they won't, I assume you have proof you sent such a request... it will work in your favor at the hearing, they are going to have to prove to the court it's a real and valid debt if you contest it, in fact mention to the court they refused to validate it despite a request to do so and present the proof it was sent and received by them. As far as the amount. Is that total? Or is that the amount of the original debt... without theaddition of collection fees and interest they are entitled to you despute? They can and will go after all of those together and it will be a higher number than the original debt.

YOU will get other answers from others more experienced in this than me... so have some patience and before the day is out you will have some other responses and viewpoints.

But do NOT forget to show up. They will win everything they ask for by default valid or not if you don't show.
